Digital Futures talk @ CIM – Glasgow 7 February

Thanks to everyone who came to the Digital Futures talk I did for the CIM recently at the 29 club in Glasgow. Apart from some clear issues with the electric in that place, it was a success. A near full house and lots of great chat with the audience both at the event and afterwards made for a really vibrant atmosphere – even if nobody was willing to ask a question in front of the audience! Anyway, I am getting lots of requests for the presentation from the audience. Future of Digital is now available as a user-friendly PDF on my Google Docs (yes – cloud computing at work!) and I welcome everyone’s thoughts. Apologies though, it’s likely to be out of date already as a week’s passed since I did the talk and digital really does move that fast!

Corporate Twitter – Tweeting from big company land

Over at EquatorLive, I’ve recently put together an article on how to set your stall out on Twitter from a personality perspective if you are a corporate entity. I did want to use the term ‘faceless’ there but that’s exactly what this article covers off – putting a face, a personality, to the world of Twitter. Yes, what is happening with Twitter right now could very well be a passing fad, but I doubt it will disappear. Merely, I believe what Twitter will become will be a bastard son of what it is right now and not necessarily what it set out to be. Commercial interests are invading Twitter like a rash and, ultimately, there’s money to be made and this is invariably going to shape how Twitter runs in the future.

The great unknown will be how will the owners make money out of all this themselves… Stay tuned!
