QR-ious way to get you to a website

QR codes are great when you’re confronted with a billboard, but what about a split-second on a TV ad?

Digital Futures talk @ CIM – Glasgow 7 February

Thanks to everyone who came to the Digital Futures talk I did for the CIM recently at the 29 club in Glasgow. Apart from some clear issues with the electric in that place, it was a success. A near full house and lots of great chat with the audience both at the event and afterwards made for a really vibrant atmosphere – even if nobody was willing to ask a question in front of the audience! Anyway, I am getting lots of requests for the presentation from the audience. Future of Digital is now available as a user-friendly PDF on my Google Docs (yes – cloud computing at work!) and I welcome everyone’s thoughts. Apologies though, it’s likely to be out of date already as a week’s passed since I did the talk and digital really does move that fast!

NewBiz ’12 – search marketing talk

For UHI Perth College and Perth & Kinross Social Economy Partnership, I’ll be doing a talk at NewBiz ’12 in Perth on 7 February. If you want to come along and learn about how to improve your online presence from a searchmarketing perspective, then make sure you make your way to Perth Concert Hall from 9:15 onwards. Stick PH1 5HZ into your Google maps if you’re not sure how to get there! I’ll be posting the presentation I do on here after the event too so be sure to check in and say hi!

Are Google Chameleon & Spellmeleon trashing your results?

Another shameless plug for another article I wrote over at Equatorlive – this time on the topic of Google’s Chameleon and Spellmeleon search result tweaker. I wont divulge too much about the article as it’s already written but its worth a read if you are interested in what Google could do to your search positions on Page 1. And of course…it could all change again!!!

Corporate Twitter – Tweeting from big company land

Over at EquatorLive, I’ve recently put together an article on how to set your stall out on Twitter from a personality perspective if you are a corporate entity. I did want to use the term ‘faceless’ there but that’s exactly what this article covers off – putting a face, a personality, to the world of Twitter. Yes, what is happening with Twitter right now could very well be a passing fad, but I doubt it will disappear. Merely, I believe what Twitter will become will be a bastard son of what it is right now and not necessarily what it set out to be. Commercial interests are invading Twitter like a rash and, ultimately, there’s money to be made and this is invariably going to shape how Twitter runs in the future.

The great unknown will be how will the owners make money out of all this themselves… Stay tuned!

WordPress themes – why bother paying?

I think there are some really cool themes out there for WordPress, including the one I am using right now. And, so far, it’s fair to say that some of the best ones come at a cost. But this, comes with a health warning.

Welcome to my Online Agency Marketing Blog

I am certainly dragging this out but I am definitely going to get this site up and running very soon as I am fast learning I have a lot to say about internet and online marketing and people seem to be listening. So thanks to everyone who does. Over the coming months I will be throwing my weight behind such topics as SEO, PPC, Affiliates, Media, Online PR, Social Media and eMail. Yes, lacking focus perhaps but my role as a Digital Strategist and Marketing Director kind of makes me a marketing generalist. So generally good I hope.
